Mont Choisy is the longest beach in the north: three kilometres of sand in a wide arc, lined with filao trees, with enough room that nobody is on top of anybody, even on Sundays when Mauritian families come to picnic.
The lagoon stays shallow a long way out, which makes it one of the few places in the north where children can paddle without being watched every second.
The hotels sit right on the beach, between Trou aux Biches and Grand Baie. This is what I suggest to families.
