Its reputation rests on the love nests suspended over the water — alcoves where you can spend an entire afternoon without seeing a soul. The rest follows: spa, several restaurants, staff who know your first name by day two. A five-star on a human scale, not a tourist factory.

I recommend it for honeymoons and milestone birthdays. One honest caveat: you’re a long way from everything, so you’ll want a car or you can rely on me for outings. Around 1h15 from the airport.
