The Preskil takes up an entire peninsula at Pointe Jerome, between the historic village of Mahebourg and the Blue Bay marine park. The hotel is surrounded by water on three sides, and that is what sets it apart.

Superior four-star, family-friendly, with a welcoming rather than formal atmosphere. Air-conditioned rooms, flat-screen TV, some with a seating area. Blue Bay, right next door, is the best snorkelling site reachable from the beach anywhere on the island.

This is my address when a flight lands late or leaves early: the airport is fifteen minutes away. The south is the least visited region of Mauritius, and by far the greenest.
