Blue Bay lives up to its name: the lagoon is a clear blue, protected as a marine park, and the coral bottom is visible from the surface. It is one of the few places on the island where a mask and snorkel are enough to see something genuinely beautiful.
Next door, Mahebourg holds the memory of the Dutch landing and the 1810 naval battle, with its museum and Monday market.
The airport is ten minutes away, which makes it a good first or last night of a stay.
