The north is home. I live in Pereybere, between Grand Baie and Cap Malheureux, and I know this region street by street: the hotels, the boats, the drivers, the places worth the detour.
It is also the easiest part of the island for a first visit. The beaches are sheltered, the water calm most of the year, and everything is close: Grand Baie for nightlife and shopping, Mont Choisy and Trou aux Biches for the long beaches, Pereybere for a quieter pace, Cap Malheureux for the view over the islets. Pamplemousses garden and Port Louis are under an hour away.
